The Kitchen for Exploring Foods

I am so excited to spread the news about The Kitchen for Exploring Foods! They are one of the best caterer's I've ever worked with. Peggy Dark has been in business for over 20 years, and consistently produces excellent quality food combined with stellar service. The Kitchen for Exploring Foods won the Zagat Award of Distinction, and has been featured in the New York Times and on the Today show.

I always look forward to working with The Kitchen because they are constantly coming up with new and unique ideas and outdoing themselves with menus that are simply amazing and personalized to our events. Peggy, Mark Held and Richard David of Mark's Garden have also come out with a book that I highly recommend called Fabulous Parties: Food and Flowers for Elegant Entertaining.

Sara and Chad's St. Regis Wedding

After meeting Sara for the first time, Chad immediately called his mother and told her he had met his wife. Sara and Chad began dating two weeks later and they were engaged within seven months!

Sara and Chad are so much fun to be around and are always the life of the party! Chad graduated from The Second City, the prestigious training ground for the best in comedy like Bill Murray, Gilda Radner and Tina Fey. And Sara is a professional dancer who has danced and performed for Disney in Tokyo.

Sara loves to travel and Chad wanted to incorporate that into their engagement, so he arranged the proposal to happen as a "Half Birthday Trip Around the World." He took Sara to 17 countries through gifts, activities, restaurants and chocolates by Vosges Chocolatier. Chad asked Sara to marry him at El Matador beach in Malibu at sunset, where he had arranged for a hidden photographer to capture the moment and a limo to take them to Spago for dinner. They ended their trip around the world back home on the rooftop of Chad's Hollywood apartment by sending fire lanterns into the night sky.

Sara and Chad's wedding at The St. Regis was absolutely stunning! Beautiful white feathers were incorporated into several design elements leading up to White Flite's spectacular release of doves at the ceremony! Flowers by Cina designed Sara's bouquet with gorgeous feather accents and even the cake by Rockwell Cafe and Bakery was personally designed to go with the theme, with just touches of feather accents and two layers with the rosette design of Sara's dress.

Laura and Michael at the Beverly Hills Hotel

Laura and Michael met in their freshman year at The University of Arizona and have been together ever since. After graduating, Laura returned to California, where she grew up and Michael moved to New York. They maintained a long distance relationship for two years because they had known from the moment they met they would eventually get married; and Michael moved to California to be with the love of his life.

On December 20th, 2009, seven years later, Michael popped the question on a Sunday evening right before Christmas, in the couple’s West Hollywood apartment. Laura had just returned from the spa and was relaxing on the couch, talking to her mother on the phone. As she hung up the phone, Michael came into the room and moved the ottoman from her feet so he could get down on one knee to propose. It was a very emotional moment and Laura didn’t even put the ring on her finger until after they’d embraced for about five minutes.

Laura is a traditionalist who has always admired the regal style of fashion icons Princess Grace and Jackie O. She wanted her wedding to reflect an understated elegance; a timeless look she could look back on in 30 years and still admire. It couldn’t be trendy or contemporary, only classic and romantic would do. Youngsong Martin, of Wildflower Linen drew inspiration from Grace Kelly's regal style and designed a gorgeous custom linen just for our bride! She even named it "The Laura!" Thank you Youngsong!

Laura and Michael were married on November 6th, 2010, which is an incredibly cherished day because it’s also Laura’s parent’s anniversary. They were married at the Beverly Hills Hotel, which also held a special place in Laura’s heart because it was where her father stayed when he came to visit. Laura and Michael had fallen in love with the Beverly Hills Hotel for it’s charm, warmth, lived-in beauty and it’s magical history.

The week leading up to Laura and Michael’s wedding day was uncharacteristically warm for L.A., reaching highs in the 90’s during the day. However, the morning of the wedding, a cold front came in, and a high chance of rain was predicted to begin at 4:00, which just happened to be the exact starting time of the ceremony! But just as Laura was about to walk down the aisle, it was as if a miracle occurred! The sun came out and all of a sudden we had clear blue skies! Laura walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life and it didn’t rain at all that night!
